Jon Kvist has done research on the Danish welfare state in an international and comparative perspective for 20 years. Jon was member of the Danish government Commission on Unemployment Insurance (Dagpengekommissionen, 2014-2015), the Scottish Government Expert Group on Rethinking Welfare (2013-2014), and the Norwegian Research Council on Work, Welfare and Migration. Jon has been active in European social policy analysis and in establishing and managing large research projects and networks on a Nordic and European level. For example he was co-founder of ESPAnet – European network of social policy analysts. Kvist has organized numerous conferences, workshops and seminars, including the inaugural ESPAnet conference in 2003. He has special competences in comparative welfare state studies, comparative methodology and in examining international challenges, especially the relationship between the EU and national policies. On these issues Kvist has published extensively in journals and book; taught at BA, MA and PhD courses; and given many talks, papers, and presentations not to mention interviews.
