My research is concentrated in three areas that are sometimes intersecting:
1. Comparative welfare state research: policies and outcomes, specialization on the Nordic welfare model
2. The EU and the national welfare state: European integration, Europeanization, enlargement, EMU, the internal market
3. Methodology: especially comparative methods, qualitative configurational analysis, set-oriented approaches, fuzzy set ideal type analysis
