Welfare, Work and Migration

In 2008 we – the program committee for the Norwegian research program Work, Welfare and Migration (Velferd, Arbeidsliv og Migrasjon, VAM) – wrote up an ambitious research program for welfare research. With 1 billion Norwegian kronor over ten years VAM is the biggest ever social science program in Norway. This week we meet in Solstrand south of Bergen to write the Autumn call for tender, draft a midterm report, and plan the midterm conference. Stunning views to the fjord makes a Dane envious of not only the grand scale of research funding in Norway but also of her mesmerizing nature.
